Your Daily Giant 8/3/2013

Today's Daily Giant comes from the McCook Weekly Tribune, Nebraska May 14, 1885, pg 3. The article is as follows,

"Five Giant Skeletons Unearthed. One of the most important discoveries of the many made in the prolific field of Indian mounds near Homer, Ohio, was made near there a few days ago. Beneath a small mound and five feet below the normal surface five gigantic skeletons, with their feet to the east, were found in a grave with a stone floor. Remnants of burned bones and wood charcoal are plentiful, together with numerous stone vessels and weapons. The skeletons are of enormous size, the head of one being large and polished and engraved with considerable care in a simple way-the figures are birds and beasts; a knife shaped like a sickle reversed and having a wooden handle held by leather thongs and a kettle holding perhaps six quarts. Those who know say this find is one of the oldest in America and perhaps the most valuable."

To me, some of the most compelling accounts are the ones that mention giant skulls. There are no issues of disarticulation to muddy the waters. The bottom line is do we believe that thousands of people, often respectable citizens, were telling the truth in these matters? These are burial mounds that yielded human skeletons, so the only question for the rational person to then ask was every single one of these over 1000 accounts a hoax. My experience tells me that the majority of these ring true. For this not to be a reality every last one of these reports has to be a hoax. Not very likely.
